How to Sign Up for Web Hosting

Now that you’re ready to purchase web hosting, let’s go through it!

The below information is for Bluehost web hosting, who we feel is one of the best hosts. Click here to sign up using the below information.

1. First, choose a plan.

Bluehost’s Basic plan is going to work for most of our clients. Here’s a screenshot of Bluehost’s plan comparison. Note that prices may fluctuate from this screenshot.

You can see that the 50 GB of Basic plan website space is pretty great. We would recommend the Plus plan only if you predict your website traffic is going to be hefty. Also note the email accounts and storage space on the Plus plan. If you plan to use your email (you@yourname.com) as your primary business email, then the Plus plan may be best. Here’s an article we wrote on why email quota matters.

At any rate, the Basic is fine for most people. Click to start.

2. Sign up.

A few things to note here:

  • Be sure to select the 36-month plan in order to get that price (note that the price goes up slightly per month if you get the plan at 2 years or 1 year)
  • Uncheck all the boxes for the extras. These are just that — extra — and in most cases, totally unnecessary.

Next, you’ll see a congratulations screen. Bluehost will offer you some “special offers” — but these are more unnecessary tools. Hit “no thanks” at the bottom right to continue.

You will be asked to choose a user name and password — make sure to make a note of these in a safe place. Then you’ll get a series of thank you and welcome emails form Bluehost. One of them will be a WHOIS Verificaion email — go ahead and verify.

You’re all set! Congratulations! We’ll set up WordPress for you. Shoot us an email with your username and password, and we’ll take care of the rest!
